Conceptus of a Dream

The as-of-yet underdeveloped conceptus of a dream
Keeps my feet in orderly little rows
As I pace silently across creaking floorboards
Like a marionette, dragged inevitably by some unseen
Force hiding in the shadows
Of an oblique corner of the mind
Towards that hollow space
Between darkened corridors
To mull over the things that I’ve forgotten.
